alaska waterfront cabin for saleOUR HOME:
Our remote Alaskan waterfront cabin is in the beautiful Alaskan Inside Passage on over 2.5 located of wooded land and 364 feet of beachfront.  The main house is a Real Log Cavendish model and, while the plans called for two bedrooms and a large loft (16x20), we chose to have an open floor plan with a large living room and kitchen--plus the sleeping loft.  Our bathroom, laundry room, computer room, “mud room,” outdoor gear closets, wood stove and oil stove are all located in the spacious daylight basement.

MORE:
We also have a small guest cabin with a kitchen/living room, bathroom, bedroom, and sleeping area. The cabin is insulated, has a small oil stove for heat and sleeps four.

AND EVEN MORE:
Between the guest cabin and the house is a 12” x 20” insulated wood workshop.  It could easily be converted into two bedrooms or a bunk house.

LOCATION:
Our waterfront home is located in the southeast part of Duncan Canal, a 30 mile long inlet on Kupreanof Island.  Access to our beachfront property is just a short 24-mile excursion by boat from the quaint fishing village of Petersburg, which is halfway between Juneau and Ketchikan. Petersburg Alaska (see www.petersburgalaska.com), also known as “Little Norway”, has jet service to and from Seattle, Juneau and Anchorage, as well as ferry service from Bellingham, Washington; Prince Rupert, British Columbia and Skagway, Alaska.  Our home is accessible by boat, plane or helicopter.

Being centrally located in the heart of the beautiful Alaskan Inland Passage, the area abounds in wildlife.  World class king salmon fishing is just a short boat ride away, as are coho and sockeye salmon and halibut fishing.  Across the Duncan Canal are several world-class  steelhead fishing streams. Another short boat ride to the waters of Sumner Strait, provides halibut, cod, and red snapper fishing. The waters in front of the house offer a bounty of Dungeness crab, shrimp and clams to commercial and sport fishermen.

Deer are almost daily visitors, and from our living room, dining room or porch, seals, porpoise and otter can frequently be seen playing in the waters.  On occasion, whales are also spotted. Eagles, blue heron and ravens reside in the trees along the shore, and sandhill cranes, geese, swans and ducks use the area as a resting place as they migrate. Bear and wolf are around, but less frequently seen.
